The jazz world is a community of passionate people who devote their lives to this demanding music.  It is a rare gift to be able to meet and play with people who share this passion. This dedication and passion for jazz, for improvised music, is our common spirit that has united us for so long. Almost 30 years Claudio, Jean-Louis and Klaus have worked together in different jazz groups, the last 13 years as a trio.

During this time we traveled through many countries and metropolises of Europe and performed nearly 1000 concerts.  One of these concerts is this radio recording from Deutschlandfunk Kultur. It was recorded live in 2014 at the A-Trane in Berlin, as part of an extensive tour.

In 2015, we were able to do our last tour, after which Claudio fell seriously ill and from then on was no longer able to travel to Europe.  He died in January, 2020, as a consequence of his illness.

This recording is the last document of our long lasting partnership.

Therefore, we are honored to dedicate this CD to our dear friend Claudio.

We have lost not only an outstanding musician and friend, composer and jazz trumpeter, but also a special person.  His dedication, strong energy and sensitivity have inspired and influenced us both deeply.

We miss his humor and his open and friendly manner.

But in our hearts, Claudio lives on through his music and our memories..

We are grateful for and cherish all the wonderful moments experienced together

that have marked our musical collaboration and friendship.

Dear listener, we wish you a lot of joy listening to our music!

Yours truly,

Klaus Ignatzek            Jean-Louis Rassinfosse

Roditi- Ignatzek-Rassinfosse TRIO

Roditi-Ignatzek-Rassinfosse Trio

The world famous Brazilian trumpet player Claudio Roditi, the German pianist
Klaus Ignatzek who is one of the leading of his kind in Europe, and the international renowned Belgian bass player Jean-Louis Rassinfosse have been playing together for more than 20 consecutive years now. This is excellent Chamber jazz from a top-notch trumpet-piano-bass trio.

The three musicians, who understand each other blindly, form a unity in which musical equality goes without saying. The three of them are always able to lead the audience into their world of sound without being obtrusive but intensive and border-crossing. The trio reveals its unmistakable class as a chamber ensemble.

listen to some music

Roditi-Ignatzek-Rassinfosse

All their CDs produced and published on the Nagel-Heyer label did not only receive excellent critics worldwide, their music was also at the top of the American charts and on the air for several weeks.

The trio´s music consists of specially arranged standards and mainly their own compositions in the jazz & Latin jazz genre. Countless concerts throughout Europe and four joint CDs stand as impressive documents of their long term collaboration in the trio format.

In their concerts, Claudio Roditi, Klaus Ignatzek and Jean-Louis Rassinfosse demonstrate that they belong to the top of the jazz scene. Melodic jazz doesn't get much better than this. With years of experience, the combination of breathtaking improvisations and daring tempi makes their energetical performance a special occasion even for non-jazz fans.
